Welcome to RSU54 Adult & Community Education!
The Maine Adult Education system provides adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve their skills in reading, writing, mathematics, English language proficiency, and problem solving to become self-sufficient and to participate effectively as productive workers, family members and citizens.
Adult Education Programs in Maine, from Portland to Fort Kent, offer many opportunities from earning you high school equivalency certification(HiSET), completing your high school diploma, job training, better employment, and to help adults prepared for post-secondary education and/or employment.
RSU54 Adult & Community serves the communities of Somerset County and beyond.
Alice Haiss Scholarship Information
Purpose: To assist RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult Education students who are pursuing post-secondary education or work force training.
Eligible Students: Students who have or plan to enroll in Maine College, Post-Secondary or Training Program including:
- Students who have graduated through RSU54 Adult Education Program
- Current or former RSU54 students who have successfully completed at least one(1) academic class through our program
Preference: Adult learners who are pursuing education or training in high demand, high skill, or high wage occupations.
Funded by: $5,000 anonymous donation to establish the fund. Annual awards based on interest earned. Donations accepted.
Award amounts: Up to $500
Allowable Use of Funds: To assist in the payment of tuition and fees, textbooks, application fees, prerequisite courses. This may include tuition reimbursement for successfully completed courses or the courses’ associated direct expenses (fees, books) or scholarship toward future course expenses made payable directly to the educational institution.
Selection: Selected by RSU54 Adult Education teachers and staff.
Announcement of Awards: Awards will be announced at the Adult Education Graduation.
