Pilates is the Western and modern mind-boby movement exercise method related to the Eastern and ancient tradition of yoga. Pilates emphasizes spinal health and teaches rolling/stacking movement of the spine. It promotes core muscle stability aiding greatly in the prevention of back injuries and each pilates workout provides full-range motion exercises to build full mobility of the joints. In a pilates workout, you get to hold a pose in the setup of an excercise for a few seconds and then you move in a flow for a few repetitions.
Please bring a thick exercise/yoga mat for adequate cushioning of the spine or other tender points.
Some individuals may need other supporting props; I will assess the need during the first class.
